(Caution: the database might not contain the currently effective version of the statute. Cornell's version is generated from the most recent version made available by the U.S. House of Representatives, but be sure to use the "Updates" link that will appear to the side of the resulting text, which also explains the use of the House-published Classification Tables referencing you to later-enacted public laws that affect the text of the Code.) How to use this form: enter the number of the desired IRC section in the blank (for example, 401). Then press the Go button. Your request will be sent to the Cornell Legal Information Institute web server, which might take as much as a few seconds to respond. Cornell's version is reported to be generated from the most recent version made available by the U.S. House of Representatives; see http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/. The Office of the Law Revision Counsel of the U.S. House of Representatives prepares and publishes the Code; information is available at http://uscode.house.gov/about.htm, which refers you to "Classification Tables" that show where recently enacted laws will appear in the United States Code and which sections of the Code have been amended by those laws. |
